Rhinoceros

Released on May 22, 1974.

ROLES: Stanley

"Rhinoceros" is an absurdist comedy film based on a play by Eugène Ionesco. In the film, Gene Wilder portrayed Stanley, a man who witnesses his friends and acquaintances turning into rhinoceroses. Wilder's performance captured the character's desperation and confusion, highlighting his ability to convey complex emotions through comedy.

Gene and Zero try again after The Producers and the result was not a favorite of Gene's later in life.

Karen Wilder: "Rhinoceros?  Yes, he mentioned that one to me.  He didn't really care for that one too much and didn't speak of it often."
